With the 7 Days Primate Uganda Tour, you have a 7-day tour package taking you through Kampala, Uganda and 4 other destinations in Uganda. 7 Days Primate Uganda Tour is a small group tour that includes accommodation as well as an expert guide, meals, transport and more. Trek in the elusive Chimp forests of Kibale Forest, game drives in the open savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth and trek the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to the majestic mountain gorillas located in southwestern Uganda and home to half of the endangered mountain gorillas (approximately 400 individuals). Depending on availability of gorilla permits at the time of confirmation, you may trek gorillas in Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga or Nkuringo.

Day 1: Kampala – Kibale Forest

After a relaxed breakfast we will depart the capital city and head west to Fort Portal, with lunch en route. Fort Portal rests in the shadows of the fabled “Mountains of the Moon” and is famous for the many tea plantations. From this lovely town we will continue to Kibale National Park. Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge. Meal plan: Lunch, Dinner.

Day 2: Kibale Forest & Bigodi Swamp

After breakfast, you will drive to Kibale National Park headquarters for briefing and then chimpanzee trekking in the forest. You will be allowed one hour with the chimps before returning back for lunch and then a wetland walk in the nearby Bigodi Village. Kibale National Park is popular for primates and birds and 12 primate species have been recorded. Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: Kibale Forest – Queen Elizabeth

Depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. En route, take a short walk in the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains and take in the views of this magnificent mountain range. Alternatively, drive straight to the park and take a game drive. What you see depends on the season, but the Kasenyi plains are excellent for sighting lions and large herds of Uganda kob. The Mweya peninsula is one of the best places to look for leopard, which live in the dense, scrubby thickets. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth

Either take an early morning or evening game drive for the best opportunity to see game. What you see depends on the season, but the Kasenyi plains are excellent for sighting lion and large herds of Uganda kob. The Mweya peninsula is one of the best places to look for leopard, which live in the dense, scrubby thickets. In the afternoon take a cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which flows between Lakes Edward and George. Kazinga is home to one of the greatest concentration of hippo in Africa and herds of elephant, buffalo and other animals come to drink at the water’s edge. The channel is a magnet for waterbirds, with great flocks of pelicans and others birds on the shore, and a great spot to see African fish eagle.Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth – Bwindi National Park

Today your safari continues to the Bwindi forest. Travelling via Ishasha – subject to road conditions – you can observe the unusual behaviour exhibited by the tree-climbing lions. This is a long journey through the rapidly changing landscape to Bwindi forest. Dinner and overnight at Silverback Lodge Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6: Gorilla Tracking

After an early morning breakfast, you will drive to the Park headquarters for registration and joining others for a gorilla trekking briefing about the dos and the don’ts during your Gorilla Trek. Once this is done, you will set off for gorilla tracking. Trekking through the steep, densely forested hills and then finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in the vegetation is an inspiring and privileged moment. Tracking in the Bwindi forest requires stamina and can often take most of the day depending on the movements of the gorillas in search for food.  On your trek, you are likely to spot other primates, birds and rare tree species. After finding the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one hour with gorillas observing them and taking photos before trekking back to the Park headquarter. This is indeed an extraordinary feeling being with these beautiful yet endangered Creatures. The afternoon is free for you to enjoy are other activities and excursions on offer in and around the national park. Dinner and overnight at Silverback Lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 7: Bwindi National Park – Kampala or Entebbe

In the morning after breakfast you will drive back to Kampala or Entebbe (Airport) with en route stopover in Mbarara town for Lunch and brief stop at Equator line crossing area for photo opportunity and a bit of souvenir shopping. Accommodation for tonight is not inclusive in the program. If you wish to depart tonight from Entebbe Airport, make sure your flight is at 10 pm or later. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch
